The datasets include medical, education, entertainment, economics, etc. This report shows how ethics in artificial intelligence ensure technology aligns with human values and fairness and how Kaggle has helped in achieving this. \n\nIntroduction\n\nIt was a decade ago when Geoffrey Hinton’s team won a Kaggle contest sponsored by one of the world's largest drug companies called Merck & Co. Little did they know at that time that they had hit upon the quantitative structure-activity relationship or QSAR, which helps discover new medicines, leading to see patterns that humans cannot see. That same year in December 2012, Geoffrey Hinton’s startup called DNNresearch was acquired by Google. He joined Google in March 2013, and now exactly a decade later, the godfather of AI, has left Google. \n\nMany scientists after years of work are illumined with profound wisdom. They understand the immense impact of their work, including the destruction it can cause. But sometimes it is too late and filled with regrets. Oppenheimer objected and regretted working on the nuclear bomb. Even though Arthur Galson said that all scientific discoveries are morally neutral, he felt it was a misuse of science when his research on Agent Orange was used as a military weapon instead of herbicide. In his interview with CNN, Geoffrey Hinton says that technology if not well implemented can lead to an existential threat similar to the global nuclear war. After spending decades on understanding how the human brain works, he stated that language learning models have started developing common sense, and if we are not too careful, they can become more intelligent than us. If wisdom could be passed through mere words, he certainly would have, but like all scientists, he certainly can foresee things that we cannot. \n\nIn 2016, the top tech companies built their own organization called Partnership on AI to oversee research that benefit people and society. Two other organizations called Future of Life Institute and Future of Humanity Institute were created to aim for ethical concerns regarding existential threats by AI. However, global existential threat is not the only ethical concern. Gender discrimination exists in language translation models, for example, an AI software assumes that a doctor is male, and nurse is female and assigns the respective pronouns. There is color discrimination wherein Google Photos could predict white men but termed black men as Gorilla. There is leakage of data and exploiting them for personal usage. It has been proved by Cambridge Analytica that the 2016 American elections were affected by fake news being spread on Facebook. AI4ALL and Centre for Humane Technology are other organizations working on eliminating the negative aspects of AI and bringing more diversity and equality. As of now, all big tech companies have an ethical AI team to work on these concerns. The literature review discusses the different ways in which AI ethics have been taken into consideration and how Kaggle has played an important role in being that platform to provide data and perform exemplar research. \nLiterature Review\n\n\nClimate change, weaponry, gender, race, education, entertainment, economics, religion\nClimate Change\nWith the onset of ChatGPT and the various tools being built from it, the temperature has risen. OpenAI has taken a step towards this ethics by asking the user to set a temperature at which they would want to \n","metadata":{}}]}
