"content": "
After much contemplation about whether I should post it or not, I have finally decided to share my thoughts here. This competition is not just about writing an article; providing peer-review feedback is equally important. When one is placed in such a prominent position, it becomes the responsibility of a peer reviewer to conduct thorough research and make claims only after conducting proper research and presenting evidence to support those claims.
\n
People often discuss plagiarism without delving into the sources from which it is supposedly plagiarized. In my case, further research revealed that the plagiarism detection tool flagged similarities based on my own publicly available notebook on the web. Consequently, it was falsely claimed that a significant portion of my article was plagiarized, accounting for 57% of its content. Suggestions were made for me to either withdraw my article or rewrite it. Although I was willing to comply with either option, upon examining the claims, I found no truth to them.
\n
I received a detailed generated report indicating that the plagiarism was detected based on my own public notebook. As a reviewer, and I speak for all of us, it is crucial to be meticulous with our claims. Our responsibility does not end with merely writing an article; it extends to making claims based on thorough research. I genuinely believe that it is equally unethical to make claims without proper research, as when we write a peer review, we involve someone else in the process.
\n
Without conducting proper research and suggesting that someone retract their submission due to alleged plagiarism, only to later discover that one's own research was insufficient, reflects poorly on the reviewer as well. Just what I had experienced, and if I wouldn't have dig down deeper, I would have retraced my submission based on the claims. Posting it out here so that nobody experiences the same.
\nAll the best everyone! :)
",

      "content": "
Hey @ahsuna123 just FYI, my peer feedback comments have been updated to reflect your 'further research'. My peer feedback comments were only meant to help you. I have reviewed essays for plagiarism that did not attribute the source to the public notebook so that behavior by the plagiarism detectors is not consistent. But thanks to my comments, you now have documentation showing that your work was not plagiarized! My comment suggesting withdrawal was also meant to help you, if you enter a competition with a plagiarized essay, that can negatively affect your reputation within the community. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the peer reviewer to call things like that out in order to help you improve your essay, which is what I did and its what the competition asks for. I will not apologize for that. Best of luck!
",
