# Dataset Description

Before training a model on the whole training set, you may want to isolate the last year of the training set as a development set to avoid overfitting on the public test set.

## Files

*   **train.csv** - the training set

*   **sample_submission.csv** - a sample submission file in the correct format

## Generic calendar columns
*   **Id** index
*   **date** date - format yyyy-mm-dd HH:MM:SS
*   **Date** date - format yyyymmdd
*   **month** month - format mm
*   **year** year - format yy
*   **tod** time of day 0 = 00:00, 1 = 00:30, ..., 46 = 23:00, 47 = 23:30
*   **toy** time of year 0 (1st of January) to 1 (31st of December)
*   **week_number** number of the week
*   **period_hour_changed** 1 summer time 0 winter time

## Electric consumption related features
*   **temperature** French temperature (K), by regional electrical consumption weights
*   **nebulosity** French nebulosity (%), by regional electrical consumption weights
*   **wind** French wind speed (m/s), by regional electrical consumption weights
*   **day_type_week** 0 = Monday, 1 = Tuesday, 2 = Wednesday, 3 = Thursday, 4 = Friday, 5 = Saturday, 6 = Sunday
*   **day_type_jf** 1 on bank holidays, else 0
*   **day_type_week_jf** 1  for bank holidays or week-ends, else 0
*   **period_holiday** 1 on French national holidays (zones a,b and c), else 0
*   **period_christmas** 1 on Christmas holidays, else 0
*   **period_summer** 1 on summer holidays, else 0

## Solar Power related features
*   **nebulosity_by_solar_power_weights** French nebulosity (%), by regional solar power weights

## Wind Power related features
*   **wind_by_wind_power_weights** French wind speed (m/s), by regional wind power weights

*   **Load** French national load (MW)
*   **Solar_power** French solar power (MW)
