# Dataset Description

This page describes the files provided for the competition and the format of each. Participants should be able to understand what files are needed, the data format, and what they are predicting.

## Files

* **train.csv** – the training set containing historical daily prices and targets.
* **test.csv** – the test set for which participants must predict the probability of price increase.
* **sample_submission.csv** – a sample submission file in the correct format.

## Columns

* `date` – the date of the observation in YYYY-MM-DD format.
* `price` – the observed price on that date (used to calculate features).
* `target` – the binary target variable indicating price direction:

  * `1` if the price increased the next day
  * `0` if the price did **not** increase the next day

Participants are predicting the **probability that `target = 1`** for each row in `test.csv`.
