**Background** To fight against unwelcome infractions at sea like environmentally devastating ship accidents, piracy, illegal fishing or illegal cargo movement, we need to act fast. Airbus strives to go under a few tens of minutes from image acquisition on our satellites to processing in our data centres. So processing time has to stay low! That is why Airbus is offering an algorithm speed prize to the fastest running algorithm that will still produce very good results! **Evaluation** The speed prize will be open to teams that score in top 100 of the private leaderboard. If you want to participate in the algorithm speed prize, you will need to follow the steps below. Steps to Enter: 1. Create a private dataset that includes model weights and any other elements required to make predictions. 2. Create a private kernel that includes the code to make predictions on the test set. (Note: If you win the speed prize, you will also be required to submit the code that generated the model.) 3. Run the kernel, making note of the inference time. [see code below] 4. Make a post-competition submission to the leaderboard and note the score. 5. **You should add the inference time and the private leaderboard score of your kernel as a discussion comment at the bottom of the kernel.** 6. Add Jeff Faudi (jeffaudi) and Walter Reade (inversion) as collaborators to both the Kernel and Dataset. 7. The Kernel will be validated against a new dataset. The winner will be the fastest Kernel (that does not have significant degradation in predictive ability against the validation set). To report inference time: import time inference_start = time.time() >> inference code << inference_end = time.time() print('Inference Time: %0.2f Minutes'%((inference_end - inference_start)/60)) **Timeline** * **November 30, 2018** - Final submission deadline for speed prize kernel submission. * **December 14, 2018** - Announcement of the winner of the Algorithm Speed Prize. All deadlines are at 11:59 PM UTC on the corresponding day unless otherwise noted. The competition organizers reserve the right to update the contest timeline if they deem it necessary.
