  "content": "<p>I'm trying to spend the last couple of days playing with vowpal wabbit, but found I could not get it work properly on my window cygwin.</p>\n<p>-- If I build from source, it pops up with some error like:</p>\n<p><code>comp_io.h:28:34: error: &#8216;fileno&#8217; was not declared in this scope<br></code></p>\n<p>-- If I use the executable version, there is a very quick error:</p>\n<p><code>/usr/bin/vw: line 5: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'<br>/usr/bin/vw: line 5: `&lt;!DOCTYPE html&gt;'</code></p>\n<p>Anyone has the same problem? Thanks in advance if you can solve the problem:)</p>",

      "content": "<p>I was unable to get it to compile on cygwin (the latest version 7.8. previous versions worked).</p>\n<p>Why not compile it with VS? I was able to get 7.8 running.</p>\n<p>https://github.com/JohnLangford/vowpal_wabbit/blob/master/README.windows.txt</p>\n<p>There were issues with it several weeks ago but Nick and John were very helpful and got the bugs fixed. </p>",
