Reference was made to an outside data set, as an example; however, we have determined that example does not meet Sponsor’s open source requirements. "2288973": "The rules have just been updated. The biggest change is that the organizers confirmed that using the previously mentioned dataset (on the data page) is not allowed.\n\nSection A - 3. SUBMISSION CODE REQUIREMENTS. Use of Open Source\n\n>The following supersedes Section 8.C of the rules below.\nUse of Open Source. If open source code is used in the model to generate the Submission, then you must only use open source code licensed under an Open Source Initiative-approved license (see www.opensource.org) that in no event limits commercial use of such code or model containing or depending on such code. Reference was made to an outside data set, as an example; however, we have determined that example does not meet Sponsor’s open source requirements. For clarification, we have removed the reference to that outside data set. If you wish to use any training data set other than those provided on the Competition Website, it is your responsibility to verify that, given the possibility of financial remuneration, you have the necessary rights to use such other data set.\n\nIf I understand correctly, everything needs to be compliant with the MIT licence.\n\nThe main question is this: **What happens if a team uses a non-compliant model (e.g. yolov5) or a non-compliant dataset? Will that team be removed from the leaderboard?**\n\nWe want to make sure our submission 100% compliant with the rules and that someone using non-compliant models or data will not be on the leaderboard in front of us (since this obviously gives an advantage).\n\n@maggiemd @benjiaa ",
"2289381": "Ouch, when I started to research about the competition that dataset was mentioned as an example datasource to use. I even downloaded it and started to a add a few annotations. \n\nGlad I had to ditch the competition I would be furious right now :D",
"2288996": "I am very disappointed with the communication in this case. Like many others, I have spent a lot of time trying to make the ICDAR data set usable. I absolutely cannot understand why such key changes are not communicated more openly here. Had you @crodoc not pointed this out, many participants would not have even noticed the change. \n\nThank you very much.\n\n/edit\nI guess, it means the any data or models with this license are not allowed to use:\nhttps://github.com/ultralytics/yolov5/blob/master/LICENSE\n\nAny thoughts on this?",

"2289903": "MIT licence is not the only open source license that allows commercial use. They all allow it in general. Disallowing commercial use is the exception. But you have to look at the licence terms for each of the dataset you want to use to make sure.",
