Welcome to the **Breast Density Estimation challenge**! This competition calls on participants to create a model capable of accurately predicting breast density from a dataset of mammogram images. The goal of this challenge is to push the boundaries of medical imaging technology and enhance the precision of breast cancer screening by providing a more accurate assessment of breast density. Breast density is a significant risk factor for breast cancer, the most commonly occurring cancer in women. However, due to the shortage of expert radiologists and the extensive time and effort required to examine mammograms on a large scale, there is a need for an automated solution. Furthermore, the assessments of breast density by radiologists can be subjective, leading to variability between and within readers. By participating in this challenge, you will be contributing to a solution that could potentially lead to earlier detection of breast cancer and prevention. You will be training your models on a dataset of 569 mammogram images and testing their performance on a separate set of 149 images. The challenge welcomes a range of approaches, including both regression and segmentation methods. This challenge presents a great opportunity for participants to apply their deep learning and image analysis skills to a real-world problem with significant public health implications. Best of luck to all participants!
