I didn't know the difference between a codon and an amino acid nor many of the other basic terms involved here. However, having spent a couple of hours reading the discussions and poking around, I'm currently lying 1st on the leaderboard with a score of 0.315. Obviously that won't last for long, but it should at least be enough to demonstrate that you can get a long way without any prior knowledge.
