"content": "This is the famous IRIS dataset, but subsetted into training and testing data for a competition format.\nIt is broken down as follows: 70% for training, 30% for testing and submission.\n\nBoth the training and testing data do **not** contain an equal distribution of each categorical type. This is done in hopes of creating a more \"realistic\" practice environment. However, there is no missing data, and there ought not be any outliers within the data.\n\n\nYou'll need each of the files. By now you oughta know how to proceed from here, given the data.\n## Files\n\n* **train.csv** - the training set\n* **test.csv** - the test set\n* **sample_submission.csv** - a sample submission file in the correct format\n\n## Columns\n\n* `Id`\n* `SepalLengthCm`\n* `SepalWidthCm`\n* `PetalLengthCm`\n* `PetalWidthCm`\n* `Species`\n\nThis is a famous dataset, should you need more information, you can look it up on your own. Independent research is important. \n\nFrom: https://archive.ics.uci.edu/ml/datasets/Iris",

"content": "Hello everyone, and welcome to first of what is hopefully many extra practice opportunities. \n\nThese practice competitions are made with a few kinds of people in mind:\n- Those who are developing a passion for the topic\n- Those who want to satisfy an exploratory itch (how does this compare *in detail* to this other thing?)\n- And those who want to make use of an extra credit opportunity in a class that doesn't otherwise offer it.\n\nSince this is for your sake, and not exclusively mine, it will also be driven largely by your feedback, effort, and ability to communicate with those around you effectively. Expect rules and guidelines to change over time as the practice of concept gets ironed out. \n\nWhat you put into it, will reflect not only in this course, but throughout your life. So give it your all. Be fair, be honest, and give it a good shot.\n\nIn the future, as the datasets get more and more complex working in teams may be worthwhile considering, and even perhaps necessary. If that is experience you would like to have sooner rather than later, you're welcome to let me know. \n\n\nAll feedback, questions, etc. are more than welcome to be directed to SaltBlock#4394 on discord, also under the alias @crisp_k in the UCF server. Please do not bother Dr. H with questions regarding these, as part of the agreement was that the heavy lifting would be done by us. This *isn't* an official assignment, and is relatively off the books.\n\nFurther regarding questions, before asking, have you: \n- Performed an search of your question online first?\n- Consulted the limitless non-living resources available?\n- *Read the docs?*\n- Read the docs again?\n\nChances are, you can find the answer to your question. If you really can't, then consult someone. As in this class, consider the ability to perform independent research an important goal.",
