"content": "
There are some articles in the internet making parallels between Conway's Game of Life and our Universe, asking the question whether or not there is some similarity between the two. I personally read few, while doing the research for this competition, e.g.
\nhttps://www.quora.com/Is-there-any-chance-that-the-universe-is-a-game-of-life-as-in-Conways-game-of-life
\nNow I have more time to think about this, and first point that comes into mind is that in fact we tend to envision past of the Universe as something known and fully determined, while the future has many possibilities. Which is very similar to how the Reverse Game of Life works!
\n
So e.g. what if modern science traces Rules of our Universe in opposite direction, while in reality there are much simpler rules that determine past from the current or future state?
\nDoes our reality follow the path of the longest possible future and will all possibilities \"have future\" or some are finite dead-ends in time?
\n
Getting practical, are there any real life future prediction technics, that can be utilized to predict \"Best\" (in this case \"longest\") future for any state in Reverse Game of Life? Or at least find some rules on transitions from state to state or on the final state, helping to find longest future path.
\n
Curious to read thoughts of the Kaggle community!
",

      "content": "
Great! I see that most people just try to solve this problem from the technical level, but you were thinking from philosophical category, which is related to the meaning and essence of life and universe.
\nIn my opinion, there is no definite inversion rule for Reverse Game of Life, but our universe must have some rules, what we are doing for centuries is attempting to find out the rules of the universe by observing the phenomenon. And the charm of GOL lies in simple underlying logic leading to complex life phenomena, as the saying goes, 'To see the world in a grain of sand.' Some persons including me believe that the ultimate law of the universe should be simple and beautiful, instead of lots of complicated formulas we have found as far.
",
