This competition is hosted by Tampere University of Technology, but public participants are also invited to attend the competition. Background Equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) is a well-known procedure for the fabrication of ultrafine-grained metal materials [1]. In the ECAP process, a metal is subjected to an intense plastic straining through simple shear without any corresponding change in the cross-sectional dimensions of the sample [2]. In this competition, the microscope images of the copper samples with certain amount of ECAP passes are provided and the participants are expected to predict the number of passes for further images. In addition to the data set provided by the organizers, the participants may also use any other data, including images generated by themselves. Sharing such additional data is allowed. Competition Organizers This competition is organized by Heikki Huttunen from Department of Signal Processing and Mikko Hokka from Department of Materials Science at Tampere University of Technology.
