"content": "<p>Welcome to your first real competition! That 'Notebook Threw Exception' error is a classic Kaggle rite of passage. Since Kaggle hides the specific error logs to prevent leaderboard probing, here are the most common culprits:</p>\n<p>The Hidden Test Set: Your notebook is likely failing on the private test data, which is often much larger or has different values than the sample you see. Check if you've hardcoded any array shapes or if your preprocessing can handle 'unknown' categories.</p>\n<p>Out of Memory (OOM): If your model or data processing is heavy, the larger test set might be crashing the RAM. Try using gc.collect() and deleting unused variables.</p>\n<p>Internet Connection: Ensure 'Internet' is toggled OFF in the notebook settings. Most competitions require this for submission.</p>\n<p>Submission Format: Double-check that your submission.csv has the exact same number of rows and column names as the sample_submission.csv.</p>\n<p>A good trick is to wrap your inference code in a try-except block to see if it runs locally with a mock-up of larger data. Good luck!\"</p>",

This competition invites you to work with one of the world’s oldest written languages and to explore how modern machine translation can be applied to historically and philologically complex data.\n\nOur top priority is to make sure you have the tools, context, and community support needed to succeed.\n\n## Getting Started\nBefore diving in, please take time to carefully review the **Data** tab, especially the section on the **Suggested Workflow for Building Additional Training Data**, which outlines recommended strategies and resources for improving model performance.\n\n### Connect with the Community & Stay Updated\nPlug into the broader Deep Past Initiative ecosystem:\n\n- **Website**: https://www.deeppast.org\n\n- **Discord**: https://discord.gg/XtCMyTrVCF\n\n- **X / Twitter**: @DeepPastAI\n\n- **LinkedIn**: https://www.linkedin.com/company/deep-past-initiative/\n\nThese channels are where we share announcements, clarifications, dataset updates, and broader discussions about ancient language NLP.\n\n### Leaderboard & Open-Source Requirement\nThis competition uses a public/private leaderboard. In keeping with the spirit of open research and reproducibility, **participants eligible for prizes must open-source their final workflows**. Failure to do so will result in removal from prize eligibility.\n\n## Questions?\nFeel free to:\n\n- Start a Discussion thread here on Kaggle\n\n- Reach out via Discord, X, or LinkedIn\n\n- Email us directly at challenge@deeppast.org\n\nWe’re thrilled to see what you build—welcome to the challenge, and good luck!",
