# 🚀 ReID-XFD: Video-based Human Recognition at Extreme Far Distances
### *WACV 2026 Workshop Challenge*
📍 Tucson, Arizona — March 6–7, 2026

---

## 🌍 Overview

**VReID-XFD 2025** introduces the **first large-scale benchmark** for *video-based human recognition at extreme far distances (XFD)*.
This challenge aims to evaluate models that can **recognize individuals across UAV (aerial) and ground cameras** under real-world conditions — including extreme variations in **scale, viewpoint, clothing, and illumination**.

## 🎯 Challenge Tracks

| Track | Description |
|:------|:-------------|
| **A→G** | Match aerial to ground-view videos |
| **G→A** | Retrieve aerial identities from ground inputs |
| **A→A** | Match subjects across aerial videos |

Each track evaluates **cross-view** and **cross-session** generalization performance.

---

## 🗂️ Dataset Highlights

- **553 unique identities** recorded over **two sessions per subject**
- **13M+ annotated bounding boxes** in video format
- **16 soft-biometric attributes** (clothing color, hairstyle, accessories, etc.)
- Data collected from **7 universities across 4 countries**
- **Predefined train/test splits** for all evaluation tracks

## 🧮 Evaluation Protocol

- **Primary Metric:** Mean Average Precision (mAP)
- **Secondary Metrics:** Rank-1, Rank-5, Rank-10
- **Final Leaderboard:** Average mAP across all tracks (**A→G**, **G→A**, **A→A**)
