"content": "
This year DevDay has came up with a data problem belonging to domain of physics.
\n
Data
\n
The data are MC generated (see below) to simulate registration of high energy\ngamma particles in a ground-based atmospheric Cherenkov gamma telescope using the\nimaging technique. Cherenkov gamma telescope observes high energy gamma rays,\ntaking advantage of the radiation emitted by charged particles produced\ninside the electromagnetic showers initiated by the gammas, and developing in the\natmosphere. This Cherenkov radiation (of visible to UV wavelengths) leaks\nthrough the atmosphere and gets recorded in the detector, allowing reconstruction\nof the shower parameters. The available information consists of pulses left by\nthe incoming Cherenkov photons on the photomultiplier tubes, arranged in a\nplane, the camera. Depending on the energy of the primary gamma, a total of\nfew hundreds to some 10000 Cherenkov photons get collected, in patterns\n(called the shower image), allowing to discriminate statistically those\ncaused by primary gammas (signal) from the images of hadronic showers\ninitiated by cosmic rays in the upper atmosphere (background).
\n\nYou will have to classify the data into one of the following classes:\n> g = gamma (signal): 12332
h = hadron (background): 6688",
