"content": "<p><strong>The data is now ready to be downloaded.</strong></p>\n\n<p>We have released a new dataset for Google Analytics Customer Revenue Prediction! This is intended to aid competitors in predicting future data (December 1st 2018 - January 31st 2019). We will be predicting the log of the sum of user revenue for this future time period for <em>all users represented in the posted test set: <code>test_v2.csv</code>, which includes all transactions from May 1st 2018 to October 15th 2018</em>. </p>\n\n<p>We have included columns of the dataset that were previously excluded, in order to match the full set of data that’s available from the demo account. The train set and test set both contain <strong><em>all</em></strong> relevant data for all transactions in the data's time period, including the <code>totals.transactionRevenue</code>. Note that this means the public leaderboard is calculated on all users in <code>test_v2.csv</code> for their transactions between May 1st 2018 to October 15th 2018. Your true performance and final standing will be based on the private future-looking dataset, which will also be calculated for all users in <code>test_v2.csv</code>, but for the time period December 1st 2018 to January 31st 2019. As such, we recommend that you use caution when interpreting the results of the public leaderboard.</p>\n\n<p>We are aware that we are missing the most recent data, from the weeks between October 16th 2018 and November 30th 2018. Unfortunately the process of preparing this data with many different groups involved is extremely heavy; there was no way to deliver this newer data while also providing enough time for competitors to work with it. I apologize in advance for this lack of recency, but you are still permitted to use it as external data if you extract it from the demo account.</p>\n\n<p>Please feel free to ask questions here.</p>\n\n<p>Good luck!</p>\n\n<p>Note: Edited to clarify that ALL users in test_v2.csv should have predictions generated for them, and final scores will be based on all predictions.</p>",

We don't have the time or the resources to do this, also we don't have information from the prevoious year so whatever the predictions are they'll be really random so it doesn't really matter how \"good\" our models are if we don't have the information or even a board for guidance. These are represented by the set of <code>fullVisitorId</code>s in <code>sample_submission_v2.csv</code>.</p>\n\n<p>Second, I want to confirm that predictions for <em>all</em> users from that time period will influence the score calculation. The objective of \"figure out how much a small number of users might spend, ignoring all others\" is extremely narrow and risks being broken in a number of ways. \"Figure out which users will spend again, and how much\" is much more robust, and much more likely to produce interesting / useful models and results.</p>\n\n<p>Thanks again for your feedback!</p>",

We don't have the time or the resources to do this, also we don't have information from the prevoious year so whatever the predictions are they'll be really random so it doesn't really matter how \"good\" our models are if we don't have the information or even a board for guidance. We are doing our level best to create something interesting, and your responses have been incredibly helpful. We really appreciate your patience.</p>\n\n<p>First, I want to confirm that this is a future prediction problem, and you will need to make predictions on unseen data (December 2018-January 2019) for all users that visited the store between May 1st 2018 and October 15th 2018.

"417914": "**The data is now ready to be downloaded.**\n\nWe have released a new dataset for Google Analytics Customer Revenue Prediction! This is intended to aid competitors in predicting future data (December 1st 2018 - January 31st 2019). We will be predicting the log of the sum of user revenue for this future time period for *all users represented in the posted test set: `test_v2.csv`, which includes all transactions from May 1st 2018 to October 15th 2018*. \n\nWe have included columns of the dataset that were previously excluded, in order to match the full set of data that’s available from the demo account. The train set and test set both contain ***all*** relevant data for all transactions in the data's time period, including the `totals.transactionRevenue`. Note that this means the public leaderboard is calculated on all users in `test_v2.csv` for their transactions between May 1st 2018 to October 15th 2018. Your true performance and final standing will be based on the private future-looking dataset, which will also be calculated for all users in `test_v2.csv`, but for the time period December 1st 2018 to January 31st 2019. As such, we recommend that you use caution when interpreting the results of the public leaderboard.\n\nWe are aware that we are missing the most recent data, from the weeks between October 16th 2018 and November 30th 2018. Unfortunately the process of preparing this data with many different groups involved is extremely heavy; there was no way to deliver this newer data while also providing enough time for competitors to work with it. I apologize in advance for this lack of recency, but you are still permitted to use it as external data if you extract it from the demo account.\n\nPlease feel free to ask questions here.\n\nGood luck!\n\nNote: Edited to clarify that ALL users in test_v2.csv should have predictions generated for them, and final scores will be based on all predictions.",
"418394": "Can you clear the existing submissions? \nSome people might think about \"quitting\" the competition and might want their past submissions which are now more or less useless (in regard to the private leaderboard) not to be counted. ",
"418261": "Hi @philculliton, can you please clear one thing for us? What if we will submit every user as if he will return? Will you calculate score only for valid users or there will be some kind of penalty for incorrect predictions?\nThanks in advance",
"419152": "So the rules enterely change it doesn't look like a big change but it does affect all of our models and methodology, first off all we have to make predictions based on information that doesn't even exist, if you are using features with information of the previous weeks or time series then you need to make predictions for the hole period that is missing ( all the time from October to the end of November). We don't have the time or the resources to do this, also we don't have information from the prevoious year so whatever the predictions are they'll be really random so it doesn't really matter how \"good\" our models are if we don't have the information or even a board for guidance. I just think that all the efford and time that we invested in this challenge was for nothing.",
"418114": "**Data got too. large.** Trying to read csv, but notebook **restarts** after some minutes without yielding any output.\n",
"425819": "I get it now, this column looks like how you would hard-code a list in Python. It seems like the way to input that column is to make Python execute it as a code.\n\nIt would've been helpful to explain how to parse that column, especially since it looks like a badly prepared JSON format data, and not everyone is familiar enough with Python to recognize it as a Python code. This also seems like a sloppy and super dangerous way to encode the data, so maybe the reluctance to document it is not that surprising.\n\nI'm starting to think that this competition should've been euthanized instead of being halfheartedly dragged along to the finish line.",
"418393": "Maybe it would be better to upload .zip archives instead of plain .csv files? \n\nThat would reduce file sizes a lot, making them much easier/faster to download.",

"420473": "Hi all - I wanted to clarify two things. I apologize for the confusion, and thanks to everyone who has asked questions and provided feedback. We are doing our level best to create something interesting, and your responses have been incredibly helpful. We really appreciate your patience.\n\nFirst, I want to confirm that this is a future prediction problem, and you will need to make predictions on unseen data (December 2018-January 2019) for all users that visited the store between May 1st 2018 and October 15th 2018. These are represented by the set of `fullVisitorId`s in `sample_submission_v2.csv`.\n\nSecond, I want to confirm that predictions for *all* users from that time period will influence the score calculation. The objective of \"figure out how much a small number of users might spend, ignoring all others\" is extremely narrow and risks being broken in a number of ways. \"Figure out which users will spend again, and how much\" is much more robust, and much more likely to produce interesting / useful models and results.\n\nThanks again for your feedback!",
"420375": "Dear @philculliton\nI was working on this challenge in order to write a nice code and showcase it for my job hunt which turned out to be not the best choice. I would like to start with another competition and would rather not continue with the new datasets here. I just would like to know if it is possible that I can have access to the premier datasets (train.csv and test.csv) in order to be able to share my work. Because now I cannot load them anymore. Could you help me with that?\n\nMany thanks",

Is it true that: \n- The predictions for customers who do not present between December 1st 2018 to January 31st 2019 will not influence the score calculation\n\nAs this will decide how should we implment our own evaluation method.\n\nThanks\n",

"422567": "@philculliton please can you confirm how we submit to the private and public leaderboards. Usually the two leaderboards are disjoint subsets of the test set. In this case, the predictions for the public leaderboard are a different timeframe from the predictions for the private leaderboard. \n\nIf I make a prediction using the future prediction (Dec-Jan) it will score horribly on the public leaderboard, which is a past prediction for the (May-15/Oct) timeframe. But I guess that is what you want? It's a bit counterintuitive!",
