### 2.3 COMPETITION TIMELINE
Competition timeline dates (Start Date, Entry Deadline, Final Submission Deadline, Team Merger Deadline, etc.) are posted on the Competition Overview > Timeline page. All times are as published on the Kaggle competition page in the platform timezone. Participants are responsible for confirming deadlines in their local time zones.

### 2.4 COMPETITION DATA

#### a. Data Access and Use
- The Competition Data is provided for **Competition Use and Non-Commercial & Academic Research**. You may use Competition Data to develop and test Submissions for the Competition and to post in Competition forums. Commercial use or redistribution beyond this scope is not permitted unless explicitly authorized by the Sponsor.
- The Sponsor may attach additional terms or a special license URL to the Competition Data; such terms will be published on the Competition Website if applicable.

#### b. Data Security
- Participants agree to reasonably protect Competition Data from unauthorized access. Do not transmit, duplicate, publish, redistribute, or otherwise disclose Competition Data to any party not participating in the Competition.
- Notify Kaggle immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized access or leakage of Competition Data and cooperate with Kaggle/Sponsor to remediate.

### 2.5 WINNER LICENSE
a. If you are selected as a Competition winner, you hereby grant to the Competition Sponsor the following license:
**Non-exclusive license:** a worldwide, non-exclusive, sub-licensable, transferable, fully paid-up, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable right to use, reproduce, distribute, create derivative works of, publicly perform, publicly display and otherwise exploit the winning Submission and the source code used to generate the Submission for any purpose, including commercial purposes, without further approval or payment to you.

b. **Open Source requirement for winning code:** The Sponsor requires winners to publish the winning code and reproduction instructions under an **OSI-approved open source license** that does not limit commercial use, unless there is an incompatible third-party license preventing such publication. If incompatible licensed inputs or pre-trained models are used, identify them and provide instructions sufficient for Sponsor to reproduce the result using commercially available alternatives where possible.

c. Winners must provide a reproducible description and documentation enabling the Sponsor to reproduce the winning Submission, including architecture details, preprocessing steps, loss functions, hyper-parameters, and exact commands to run training and inference, as detailed in Section 2.8 (Winner Obligations).

External Data (data other than Competition Data) may be used only if it is publicly available and equally accessible to all Participants at minimal cost, or otherwise meets the Sponsor’s Reasonableness Standard. Participants must **disclose** all External Data and pre-trained models used in their Submission in the Winning Documentation and Kaggle Notebook.

b. The Sponsor will evaluate whether a particular External Data source or tool is permissible under the Reasonableness Standard. External resources that impose excessive cost or exclusive access that would unfairly disadvantage Participants may be disallowed.

c. **Automated Machine Learning Tools (AMLT):** Use of AMLT platforms (e.g., Google AutoML, H2O Driverless AI) is permitted provided the Participant has an appropriate license to use the tool and the resulting Submission complies with these Rules. If the AMLT is proprietary, document how the Sponsor can reproduce the results (e.g., parameters, exportable artifacts).

### 2.7 EMPLOYEES AND AFFILIATES
Unless otherwise stated, employees, contractors, officers and directors of the Sponsor, ETHOS, Kaggle, and their respective affiliates may participate but are **not eligible** to receive monetary prizes. Such Participants remain subject to all internal employer policies.

As a condition of receiving a Prize, a potential winner must:
1. The delivered materials must enable the Sponsor to generate the winning Submission.
2. Grant the license described in Section 2.5.
3. Return any required Prize acceptance documentation (including tax forms) within the timeline specified by the Sponsor. Failure to provide required documentation may forfeit the Prize.

b. Submissions that trivially copy training rows, contain schema mismatches, or violate data use restrictions will be disqualified.

### 2.10 PRIZE DISTRIBUTION & TAXES
