I believe that the channel is used to generalize the path, while the route is the specific path that a truck may take.</p>\n\n<p>If you visualize a road map, the channels would be the interstates. They give you a general direction to take, until you are sufficiently close to your destination. The route would be the thinner lines, denoting the streets, which will take you directly to your location.</p>",
